This week in English class, we reviewed best practices for writing explanation texts and unpacked the core components of these texts. We also looked at important grammar concepts that are present in explanation texts.

Next week, in English class, we will continue to examine different explanation texts. We will study the “hamburger” approach to writing an explanation text and why this method is appropriate.

Maths
|
This week in Maths class, we revised number bonds to 10; began to bridge 10; subtracted from 10 and 20; used number facts to find the complement to ten; and found a difference between two numbers by counting on.
|
Next week in Maths class, we will rehearse complements to multiples of 10; find differences using a number line; find change from 10p and 20p, and from £10 to £20 by counting up and using bonds to 10 and 20; add two 2-digit numbers by counting on.

How the World Works
This week in UOI, we will dug deeper into understanding about human forces such as push, pull, throw, drop, etc. We also consolidated our knowledge of the appropriate vocabulary that will be used throughout the unit.

How the World Works
Next week in UOI, we will conduct a variety of experiments that will explore the forces discussed the previous week in class. Friction, gravity, and floatation will all be covered.
