Y2M Weekly Update: 29th January - 2nd February 2018

 

	This Week	Next Week
English	This week in English class, we will continued to examine different explanation texts. We studied the “hamburger” approach to writing an explanation text and why this method is appropriate.	Next week in English class, we will continue to study explanation texts on forces and motion in order to link English class with UOI. We will continue working on writing the various components of an explanation text.
Maths	This week in Maths class, we rehearsed complements to multiples of 10; found differences using a number line; found change from 10p and 20p, and from £10 to £20 by counting up and used bonds to 10 and 20; added two 2-digit numbers by counting on.	Next week in Maths class, we will learn to recognise and identify properties (including faces and vertices) of 3D shapes; sort according to properties including number of faces; name the 2D shapes of faces of 3D shapes; tell the time to the nearest quarter on analogue and digital clocks
Unit of Inquiry	How the World Works This  week in UOI, we conducted  a variety of experiments that explored the forces discussed the previous week in class. Friction, gravity, and slope/incline will all be covered.. .	How the World Works Next week in UOI, we will conduct experiments on magnetism and leverage using a variety of levers and pulleys.
